How Fast is 5G?

Speed Of 5G!

During our store opening in Taunton, the customers were excited to hear about what 5G can bring to the world of technology.

Some customers asked how fast it is. We couldn’t come up with a great answer and ended up saying, “Oh, it’s fast.” Yep, it sounded bad. So we thought it’s best to answer this question in detail.

5G can transmit up to 150-200 megabits per second in real-time. For an estimate, 5G is 10 times faster than 4G. Moreover, 5G has ultra-low latency, which means no more lagging during video calls and fewer network errors.

With excellent network coverage and infrastructure that supports 5G, it can ideally transmit up to 10 Gb of data per second, 100 times faster than what 4G transmits. This number gives an idea of how amazing 5G can get. 5G is paving its way to a network of incredibly fast communication and optimised business performance; it is ready to enhance the Internet of Things (IoT) as it can connect with numerous devices simultaneously.

How does 5G help businesses?

You’re happy to hear the above answer, but then the question is, how will it benefit your business? Let’s take the example of Sean. Say, he runs a coffee shop. Suppose he makes a deal with us and tries our 5G network.

The first thing he’ll be getting is a coverage check to see if there’s 5G available in his area. Next, there’ll be a hassle-free upgrade depending on what devices he’s currently using for both network and internet. Once he’s 5G ready, Customers will enjoy smooth and fast internet. Management tabs would never have been this efficient. All systems online like payment processes, CRM, inventory management and payrolls. Increasing easiness and productivity.

And it still doesn’t stop here, to entertain customers, he offers free entertainment and productivity apps. All in all, giving hefty profits to Sean.

This is just a small example of what 5G can do. It’s made for connectivity, and it has the potential to double your production rates in half the time. It enables incredible responsiveness even when you’re far away from your business. But, how to make sure that you really need 5G?

 Has 5G’s speed been tested?

Vodafone conducted a test at Manchester Airport to put a number on it. They asked consumers to download an episode of Tin Star using 4G and 5G networks. Within 45 seconds, the episode was downloaded, and within 6 minutes, the whole season was downloaded using 5G. In comparison, it took 26 minutes to download the same content in 4G.

RootMetrics, OpenSignal, and other platforms have conducted tests. They conducted tests using the four biggest networks in the UK, including Vodafone, EE, O2, and Three. Results showed an average of 200 Mbps of data being transmitted, and peak performances were recorded at around 600 Mbps. These results imply that with further improvement in infrastructure, we can soon be looking at data transmission in GBs, giving a massive business boost and an opportunity for growth.
